Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/31/2016 -- After a long summer of waiting until next year, the weather is finally getting colder, and the Mummers parade is getting closer and closer. Last year's Mummers Mardi Gras event was a huge success, as it raised over $25,000 for the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association. They hope to continue this success in 2017. The presenting sponsor for Mummers Mardi Gras is a full-service advertising agency called ADVENT, which helps take events and bring them to life. The team of performers for Mummers Mardi Gras are now gearing up for their 2017 event.
Last year, on February 20, 2016, over 17 String Bands marched down the streets of Manayunk in Philadelphia, PA, playing their tunes. Some of the string bands included the Woodland String Band, the South Philadelphia String Band, the Quaker City String Band, Aqua String Band, the Uptown String Band, and other amazing bands. They performed from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., and they brought warmth and happiness to the people of Philadelphia who endured a long and cold winter.
The rest of the event lasted until 6 p.m. that day and produced many family-friendly activities that were enjoyed by children and adults alike. People had fun with face painting, photo booths, and plenty of other activities. The daylong celebration was not only able to provide excitement for the people in Manayunk, but also generate exposure and raise money for one of the oldest and greatest Philadelphia traditions - the Philly Mummers parade!
