Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/25/2016 -- The Mummers Mardi Gras celebration was held on February 20th, 2016 in Philadelphia. This was the third annual parade for Mummers Mardi Gras, which is produced by the company ADVENT. ADVENT is an event and entertainment agency, located in Roxborough, PA, which helps take small businesses and artists in Philadelphia to the next level. This year, Mummers Mardi Gras was a roaring success as 17 string bands were cheered on by over 15,000 spectators. This Mummers parade in Philadelphia is preparing for next year's event and hopes to increase that number next year.
On Saturday, February 20th, 2016, Mummers Mardi Gras held their parade to give the people of Philadelphia a chance to get up close and personal with some of their favorite Mummers. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 17 Mummers string bands marched down Main Street in Manayunk playing catchy tunes. Some of the bands included the Pennsport String Band, Greater Kensington String Band, Fralinger String Band, Avalon String Band, Duffy String Band, Hegeman String Band, and more.
This event raised over $25,000 for the Mummers, which can help them make their events even more fun and entertaining next year. This tradition brings warmth and light to the cold and dark winter months in the city of Philadelphia, and the Mummers look forward to keeping their tradition alive and well for years to come. They are currently preparing and looking to next year's event.
