Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/01/2016 -- Although the Mummers Mardi Gras parade came and went, they look forward to a productive offseason for next year. This Mardi Gras parade, which is presented by the company ADVENT, featured 17 Mummers live string bands that marched through the streets of Philadelphia in Manayunk. Mardi Gras in Philadelphia never felt so colorful and alive as the Mummers held a parade the Philadelphia crowd will find hard to forget. As the excitement winds down for the parade that passed in February, the Mummers in Philadelphia look forward to a productive offseason as they get ready for next year.
The parade was held all-day on February 20th, 2016. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., string bands marched through Philadelphia while performing their musical acts. This parade successfully met its purpose by raising $25,000 for the string bands who performed in front of nearly 15,000 Philadelphia spectators. The string bands that performed in the Philly Mummers Parade included (in this order) Woodland String Band, Trilby String Band, South Philadelphia String Band, Quaker City String Band, Uptown String Band, Aqua String Band, Greater Overlook String Band, Greater Overlook String Band, Broomall String Band, Durning String Band, and more.
Mardi Gras in Philadelphia has passed, and the Mummers are looking to make next year's parades better than ever. This summer, the performers will be making costumes and practicing harder than ever to make sure next year's New Year's and Mardi Gras Mummers parades are unforgettable.

The event was developed to keep the Mummers in the spotlight throughout the year, and create a new tradition in the process.
