Enumclaw, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/08/2017 -- Pouting as defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is to "show displeasure by thrusting out the lips or wearing a sullen expression." Parents recognize pouting in children is often linked to manipulation and selfishness.

A new release addresses pouting in children in The Tale of the Great Pout: An Adventure in Polliwog Pond Story (Redemption Press 2017). Author Natalie Wade wants to teach children aged four to eight emotional intelligence through the story of Audra the duck. Audra wants to play a certain game but her friends don't want to play that game again. When her friends stand their ground, Audra storms off and pouts. Audra figures out that being alone is no fun at all and comes back to play another game with her friends.

Natalie Wade who has a master's degree in family and consumer science with an emphasis in child and family studies from the University of Tennessee at Martin says, "Demanding your own way and pouting never ends well." The former homeschooling mom who ran a private preschool in her home for thirteen years says she wrote this series of stories to teach children emotional intelligence. "Relationships can be hard for children and in today's culture the 'experts' sometimes teach children the wrong lessons. I wanted stories of this nature that come from a conservative point of view."
