New Fantasy Novel: Angels, Demons, and a Young Woman Who Wants to Change the World

Auckland, New Zealand -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/05/2016 -- A new fantasy novel, ACADEMY OF SECRETS, tells the story of a young woman, Chrymos, who has a burning ambition to make a difference in her world. That won't be easy, because Chrymos lives in Renaissance Italy, in the year 1610, a time when opportunities were few and far between – especially for women with no money and no rich and powerful family connections.

Chrymos is severely tempted when she is offered the chance to gain supernatural powers which could enable her to achieve her dreams.

That offer comes from the Academy of Secrets, a group whose members have gained unnatural powers through alchemy. But to take up their offer, Chrymos must leave behind all the people that she cares about.

Her story takes place against a backdrop of ongoing conflicts between demons and the Outcast Angels, a ragtag group of former angels exiled from Heaven at the time of the Great Rebellion.

To make matters worse, Chrymos is caught up in a search for a missing artifact that, if found, may trigger a catastrophic war.

Will the Academy recover the missing artifact? And will the prophecies of the demon Nekhbet – that Chrymos will play a crucial role in recovering the artifact – come true?

Early readers have described Chrymos as "a wonderful character" with "an intriguing story-line" and "extremely relatable".

ACADEMY OF SECRETS is the first novel in the OUTCAST ANGELS Christian Fantasy and Science Fiction series. The book is family friendly, with mild, PG-rated violence.
