New Film Brings Attention to the Healing Effects of Yoga

Actress and screenwriter Justine Beirne and actor and producer James Jeffery Caldwell have come together to create a new film that shows just how powerful yoga can be for those who are in need of spiritual healing.

Beverly Hills, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/15/2014 -- 2000 Vinyasas is a new independent film that tells the story of a young woman who was attacked and sexually assaulted but finds a way to heal herself through the power of Yoga.

Vanessa, played by actress Justine Beirne, is going through one of the toughest times in her life following a brutal sexual assault. She learns that she can not only heal herself and recover from this traumatic experience but that she may even be able to find love. Truly positive change occurs when she learns to focus on the needs of others before that of her own.

Though the story focuses mainly on Vanessa's story and life lessons, there is a wide variety of unique characters that help guide her in the right direction. A representative from the film describes four of their favorite characters:

" Monti - a curious mentor who speaks in parables and owns the failing Open Lotus Yoga Studio. "
" Guru - an oblivious yoga instructor-in-training whose antics with the ladies in class and his accidental run in with THC vegan cupcakes make him an unfailing and unlikely friend in the face of adversity. "
" David - a handsome glimpse of soul mate love- promises to wait until she's completed 2000 Vinyasas before they can connect. Assuming he isn't distracted by... "
" Cindy - the Open Lotus Yoga Studio's receptionist and gate keeper, and smoking hot private instructor. "

One of the primary focuses of the film, is the seriousness of sexual assault. Though this movie may have a happy ending, it was important to the writers of the film to help be the voice of the one in four women who have to deal with the harsh reality of sexual assault on a daily basis. It is their hope that the film will not only entertain but help raise awareness of the seriousness of this crime among both sexes.

In order to help raise funds which will be used to help complete the film, executive producer Justine Beirne has created and Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. In the hopes of enticing potential backers, they are giving away a wide variety of perks to those who choose to donate. For as little as a $10 donation, the backer will gain access to production updates and outtakes from their private blog along with a personal shout out from their Twitter account. A $500 donation will get the backer a pass to come onto a private on set yoga class with the cast of the movie.
