Boston, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/21/2014 -- In 2013 international arrivals and inbound expenditure surpassed the highest results from 2008, which was the year with best results for the last 10 years. During the review period overall international arrivals by air increased by 13%; they rose by 10% in 2013. This can be explained mostly by the strong promotion campaign Live it to Believe, which was launched to attract international travellers from the US and Canada as the main market but also visitors from countries that spend more in holidays such as Russia, England and China to main destinations such as Vallarta-Nayarit, Mexico City, Los Cabos, Cancun, Riviera Maya and the Yucatan. To boost international travellers from Latin America the government eliminated visa requirements for visitors from Brazil, Colombia and Peru, and this strategy helped generate outstanding results. When compared with the previous year, the number of trips increased by 4%, but although it seems to be a conservative growth rate it is important to mention that in 2012 inbound flows decreased due to violence problems.
