New Retailing market report from Euromonitor International: "Non-Store Retailing in Slovenia"
Boston, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/19/2014 -- Non-store retailing in Slovenia is mainly driven by the biggest category of internet retailing, and profits from the ever increasing need for convenient shopping, which the internet offers. The positive sales of the channel were also influenced by high consumer price-sensitivity, which drove many people to look for the cheapest available product by comparing prices online. Furthermore, an increasing number of consumers do not place a great deal of trust in advertising campaigns of manufacturers anymore and would rather conduct their own research by finding information and reviews online, which also helps to propel internet sales.
Non-grocery retailing in Slovenia was led by the two biggest domestic pure internet players, Mimovrste.si and Gambit Trade doo. The companies achieved 14% and 9% respective value shares in 2013 with their internet stores Mimovrste.si and Enaa.com. Both companies focus on selling a wide array of products, among which electronics and appliance specialist products play the most important role. Ranked third was the internet store of the biggest domestic home and garden specialist, Merkur, which held 6% value share in 2013.

Over the forecast period, it is expected that most of the growth for non-store retailing will come from internet retailing as this is becoming an ever more popular way of shopping in Slovenia. With the increasing availability of products from foreign internet retailers - many still do not send their products to Slovenia - consumers will have more options to chose from and foreign manufacturers will increasingly steal share from domestic ones. Among those, more courageous, such as Mimovrste, are showing strong ambitions to spread their sales across Balkan markets, where internet shopping is still underdeveloped.
