Hampton, NH -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/23/2016 -- Hometown Home Run by J. Frederick Weiss (published by MindStir Media) is now available worldwide. The book is set in 1976 and centers on Murdock Nolan, a fine young man living and working in the small Ohio town of Stone Harbour, which is nestled just south of Lake Erie's western shoreline. Stone Harbour and its residents were special to Murdock as he had grown up just outside of the town on a farm with his father, mother, and brother.

The country's 200th year anniversary was fast approaching and he felt in his heart that the events he was planning could lift the spirits of the town's people. It was his plan but the community would have to come together and support it or his plan would be doomed to fail. He took a deep breath, exhaled, and told himself, here we go....

At 390 pages, Hometown Home Run masterfully captures the essence of an underdog. One Amazon reviewer, Preston Poling, raved that Hometown Home Run "is a must read! It is one of the greatest underdog stories since Rudy."

Another Amazon reviewer praised the book as a "wonderful story of life and sports (softball) in small town America… It is endearing and makes one want to live where Murdock Nolan (the protagonist) lives. It is heartwarming and good humored. The age group for this book varies depending on the sophistication of the reader. It would be especially a good read for age groups ranging from 12-adult…"

Hometown Home Run is available from Mindstir Media LLC at fine retailers such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Powell's, and Books-A-Million. The paperback retails for $16.99. About J. Frederick Weiss
Frederick Weiss grew up in close proximity to the western shores of Lake Erie, raised by his blue-collar mother and father. He spent many wonderful days with his father fishing the lake and later in life working in view of and adjacent to the shores of Lake Erie. The small towns of this area were close-knit communities, and sports such as softball, baseball, and football were a bonding element and part of the fabric of people's lives. Weiss still lives in the Ohio Valley, a short drive to Lake Erie, where the memories for this book were born.
