New Release Calls for Change in How the Church Deals with Abortion

Enumclaw, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/04/2016 -- The subject of abortion in the congregation is a taboo subject, according to Authors Neil Travisano and Mike R. Brady. In a new release, Speaking Up for the Unborn (Redemption Press) they seek to inspire and encourage church leaders to be articulate and persuasive pro-life educators. Travisano and Brady say abortion is the greatest injustice of our time, and the church is not exempt. "According to a 2008 study by the Guttmacher Institute, eighteen percent of all abortions are performed on evangelicals, and over seventy percent are done on women who state they believe in Christ. Yet Pastors are not talking about this. Leaders are not teaching on this. The silence keeps many in a cycle of secrecy and shame as a result.

Speaking Up for the Unborn lays out a blueprint for sensitive, yet powerful, preaching and teaching that will bring a message of gradual change and preventative action. "We've got to inoculate and immunize our flocks to never consider abortion," say Travisano and Brady. The book details the magnitude of the crisis, scriptures about justice, pastoral concerns, what can be done, and includes the story of one woman's journey through the aftermath of abortion.

Neil Travisano, retired senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Mission Viejo, and Mike R. Brady, pro-life educator say their goal is to help women heal from abortion, prevent unborn babies from being killed, and help leaders to lead. "The church can preach the gospel AND influence our communities for good.."
