New Special Needs School Project Underway in Oxfordshire

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/03/2014 -- Having acquired the Priory of Our Lady in Sayers Common, West Sussex the Licensed Trade Charity asked the Synergy team comprising Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and CDM- C’s to specify and manage the contract to convert the former convent and religious retreat into a school, to create a supported learning environment for children with Asperger’s and autism. The works, which were undertaken over two phases, comprised the refurbishment of the existing bedrooms to provide more suitable accommodation for boarders, the conversion of existing lounges and meeting rooms into classrooms and the creation of a school hall out of the existing chapel which was constructed in the shape of an Oast House!

Renamed LVS Hassocks the school was fully refurbished in September 2011.Following the success of LVS Hassocks, the Licensed Trade Charity identified a need for a similar facility in Oxfordshire. A suitable building, the Priory in Begbroke, Oxford was identified and the Synergy team were called upon again. Our Building Surveyors have provided pre-acquisition technical due diligence and organised the immediate and essential external repairs and redecoration. Our Quantity Surveyors are providing cost advice, in respect to the refurbishment to create a similar special needs school environment. In addition our CDM C team are providing Health and Safety advice on both projects.

The external works at Begbroke were completed in the summer 2013 and as we go to press the major refurbishment is about to commence on site.
