The TBC team plans to release three more surveys through the end of the year on various different topics. This particular survey asks the question “Why would you considered downloading antivirus software?”

The survey received 1505 responses. It had four possible responses. The following shows the responses with their relative percentages:

A. To protect my computer from viruses & more-61.0 percent
B. To clean up and remove bugs-21.8 percent
C. To improve speed on my computer-12.4 percent
D. Other-4.8 percent

The majority response was to “protect my computer from viruses & more” with 61.0 percent. It had 918 people respond positively. Of that 61.0 percent, 68.0 percent fall in the 35-44 age range.

“It was interesting to see the answers for this particular question,” TheBestCompanys.com Content Manager Kate Ward said. “The fact the people are indeed interested in protecting their computer shows how essential computers are in this day and age.”

The age range majority, 35-44 year olds, is an interesting discovery for the TBC team. Many people who fit in that age range are working adults, potentially with families as well. This survey shows they are concerned about protecting the information stored on their computer, personal or business.

Another interesting insight the TBC team discovered pertained to the annual income of the majority response. In the 918 responses that picked “to protect my computer from viruses & more,” the levels of income varied. There wasn’t a particular income group who clearly exceeded the rest or made one group seem more important to the other.

According to the TBC team, the survey gives insight to the importance of computers in today’s society. The majority response is a clear indicator that because people are interested in protecting their computer from viruses, they see the importance of computers in their every day life.

“Their computers hold value in their lives,” Ward said. “The worst thing would be if their computers weren’t protected and some kind of virus destroyed everything.”
