Oklahoma City, OK -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/21/2015 -- There is a $5,000 sign on bonus for those who are hired by Oklahoma Heart Hospital as a sonographer. Those who are hired into this position will be responsible for performing quality echocardiograms, stress echoes, and vascular studies.

It is also a requirement that sonographers who work at this hospital report interpretations to physicians when they are completed. People in this position work under general supervision but structure their own work patterns with a broad outline, referring all unusual situations or problems to a physician.

Requirements for being hired on as a sonographer at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital include at least a high school diploma or equivalent as well as being a graduate of an accredited ultrasound program. Licensure and certification requirements for this particular position include current ARDMS or CCI or registry eligible and pass registry within one year of date of hire, and BLS certification. A valid driver's license is also required. One year of experience as an ultrasound technologist as well as cardiology experience is preferred.

A sonographer is responsible for using ultrasound equipment to take clear pictures that physicians can use to make diagnoses and come up with treatment plans for patients. Those who are hired as an ultrasound tech at this hospital must be willing to work on their feet most of the time and be able to accurately identify anomalies in the ultrasound images that are taken.
