The distinctive aspect of Exhi is that, with a few small exceptions, the reviews contained within the site will be written and uploaded by the users themselves. The aim of the site is to create a vibrant, accessible online community, created by and for art lovers and offering the chance for users to discover art recommended by people like them. Above all else the site needed to be accessible, fully responsive and visually appealing, showcasing the art in question and making it simple for users to interact across a variety of platforms and via all devices.
When creating a site centred upon the world of galleries, museums and art works, we realised that everything had to be built outward based upon the aesthetic of the site. We created that aesthetic by working from scratch and starting with the logo. It had to capture the ethos of the Exhi community, which is one of timeless elegance, taste and sophistication. As the demographic of art lovers is one which cuts across all age ranges the logo and subsequent branding needed to cut through to everyone who caught sight of it. To that end, it was designed to combine a clear and uncluttered sense of expertise with an obvious accessibility.
Once the logo was in place it was used as the foundation of the rest of the website. By using plenty of white space we created a site which provided the perfect backdrop for the art work and exhibitions under discussion. The other key demand was that the site be truly responsive, working just as effectively across the full range of mobile devices. Our team of experts ensured that this was the case, delivering an online presence which loads quickly and smoothly no matter how it is accessed, and which invites exploration and interaction.
The last point was the one which makes Exhi genuinely unique. It presents a view of the sometimes elitist art-world in which the ordinary gallery-goers are the stars of the show. The site is designed to encourage visitors to upload and access reviews opinions and recommendations. By making it easy to search and find by genre, artist or exhibition, Exhi will democratise the world of art and create a thriving and growing community of like-minded people. OMdeSIGN made this possible by designing and building a site which could be used quickly and easily whilst on the move, and which has the capacity to grow and change as the Exhi community does.
