Peace Advocates Use Crowdfunding to Promote Tolerance

Money raised online will help place this TRIBUTE TO PEACE Sculpture in high-visibility public sites across the country and the planet.

Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/27/2016 -- A humanitarian group is using the crowdfunding website Indiegogo to raise money for installing sculptures —TRIBUTE TO PEACE in cities around the world. The work of renowned French sculptor Guy Ferrer has been selected to embody the group's message.

His signature sculpture, named "T.O.L.E.R.A.N.C.E," already stand in three locations including Paris, Abu Dhabi, and Montpellier, in southern France. It consists of nine 7-foot bronze sculptures, each one representing a letter of the word imbued with images from different religions, beliefs, and spiritualities.

The emotions conveyed are ones the crowdfunding campaign hopes to reproduce.

"We are working toward a vision of installing this sculpture in a 'necklace' of public venues worldwide, encircling our planet with unique Tributes to Peace—confronting intolerance and violence too often in the news," says group spokesperson John Macaluso.

"Each sculpture will inspire other artists, young people and communities to join with us in the first steps of a fresh journey toward nonviolence and understanding," he adds.

Assembling a network of venues for the sculptures does come with a cost, and the $975,000 being raised through Indiegogo, along with other private and public donations, will fund this and other production costs, Macaluso says.

An ascending list of rewards are earmarked for project donors, ranging from personally signed mementos, paintings or bronze sculptures by the artist, and even a visit to southern France to personally meet with Guy Ferrer and tour his studio.

"By making this happen our project's friends and donors contribute in a very meaningful way to building world peace," adds Macaluso. "We eagerly look forward to selecting the next new venues these funds will open to our quest."
