Mumbai, India -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/06/2017 -- Pehredaar Piya Ki (English: Caretaker of lover) is an Indian television serial, based on an 18-year-old girl, Diya who gets married to a 9-year-old boy, Ratan Singh, of a royal household, in order to become his protector. It is being broadcast on Sony. It stars Tejaswi Prakash and Afaan Khan in lead roles and has caused a lot of troubles for the makers of the show because of the offensive nature of the topic portrayed through this serial.
Casting
Pehredaar Piya Ki cast has been finalized. The story of the serial is set in Rajasthan. Tejaswi Prakash known for Swaragini will be seen in the new TV serial as the object of affection of a nine-year-old prince. Currently, it is being shot at various locations in Rajasthan including Jaipur and Mandawa.
Thoughts that popped Your head while watching 'Pehredaar Piya Ki':
1. The serial is shot in this strange place called 'Kesar Mahal' with people around following old traditions. The child prince is a fan of fairy tales because why not, he's just a kid!
2. Also, the plot says that the 10-year-old's life is constantly in danger and he needs a bodyguard. Shouldn't be a problem when you own a freaking palace.
3. The kid instantly starts crushing on a 19-year-old woman (the lead of the show) and starts following her around. The kid doesn't stop here, he starts clicking her photos when she's not looking. Are kids today that desperate at stalking? This kid hasn't even hit puberty and he's up to stalking? Watch The Show For More.
In the Buzz
Even before going on air, the show got a lot of backlash from people for promoting bizarre content. The first episode showed the little boy stalking Diya and taking her photographs while hiding.
The boy also saves the girl from falling and there was one particular scene when she falls into his arms. People were outraged as they thought the makers tried to romanticize their relationship.
And if that wasn't bizarre enough, The young couple is about to go on a honeymoon. Ratan and Diya will soon be heading to London and this will begin a honeymoon track on the show.
This pampered brat is being fed lame fairy tales even in 2017. He believes that he is a Vardaan for his parents (and hence the world) which give him the worst sense of entitlement a boy in our times could possibly have. The light eyed prince steps out of a game of hide and seek and into Diya's world. He's prancing around after her curiously, smitten and infatuated. Pehredaar Piya Ki could have easily steered clear of 'icky', but they confused it with 'unique'.
Despite all the hate and outrages, the show is still doing well in terms of ratings.
