Police Officer and Military Vet Applies Firm Hand to Habit Formation with a New Android App

A person's habits can be their best friend or their worst enemy. Police officer and former Army Medic Stacey Baxter has seen this first hand and used the lesson to inspire the creation of Habit reCode, a new Android app that helps its users build positive habits by holding them accountable to their daily actions.

Melbourne, Australia -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/01/2016 -- Much of our daily lives are taken up by habits that we've formed over our lifetime, some good and some bad. Although we would like to build positive habits, it's not easy. Once the initial inspiration wears off, we tend to procrastinate and let the behavior fall away. This frustration is the inspiration for a remarkable new Android app. The app, Habit reCode, is the brainchild of Stacey Baxter, a police officer and former New Zealand Army Medic, who has seen firsthand both the constructive and destructive power people's habits can have on their lives. By using a unique system focused on accountability, Habit reCode helps build daily habits by encouraging positive daily actions. It also imposes penalties for inaction, which serves to improve discipline and to aid consistent repetition of a behavior.

This is done through the user choosing from one of the success habits and committing to consistent daily check-ins in order to bring that routine into their daily lives and build a habit. Habit reCode gives the user tips and advice at regular intervals to keep them focused on achieving their goal. The client is required to check-in to these coaching sessions and this is verified by a short journal entry. If the user does not check in as agreed, they forfeit $2 immediately. This has quickly proven itself as a very effective motivator to keep users on point.

Habit reCode is a free download for Android devices from the Google Play store.

The police office and app developer pointed out, "My own life experience has proven that you need both the carrot and the stick to really get results. Habit reCode is for serious people only, people that recognize the human nature to procrastinate and want to overcome it. People that are prepared to place a wager on their own progress and that are absolutely passionate about improving their lives."
