The story revolves around the Spartan named Eclectus who had risen and brought freedom to Athens by repelling the Roman conquerors. After yet another Macedonian War, Greece has been held captive of the powerful and strong Roman Empire. Due to this, Macedon was broken and plundered and Sparta was no longer a mighty city. However, due to wanting to bring back the former glory that was Macedon, Eclectus fought the Romans and regained control over Greece.
The Spartan is an interesting story that will remind readers of the movie “300”, however it is much better. The story was well-written with a lot of romance, adventure and suspense in it. For people who are a fan of Spartacus, they will surely love this book. This is a story of war and conflict between Romans and the Greeks, which revolves around the journey of Eclectus Megalos, a definitive Spartan warrior, to overcome the Roman conquerors and bring back the former glory of Greece. This is a story about determination, deceit, unwarranted love and self-confidence. The events are narrated by Trimidites, weapons master and loyal slave to Eclectus. The Spartan is action-packed and includes a variety of details with regard to battles that happened within the story.
