Prudential Beazley Real Estate Explains How to Add Curb Appeal to a Driveway

Prudential Beazley Real Estate lets their readers in on the secrets to a more impressive driveway.

Evans, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/29/2014 -- A driveway can do a lot for a home's curb appeal. In their weekly post, Prudential Beazley Real Estate demonstrates how, “with the right maintenance, the driveway has the potential to be the most defining feature in a homeowner's yard.”

With these five tips from Prudential Beazley Real Estate, homeowners can punch up their driveway's appearance at a fraction of the cost of replacing the pavement. Their suggestions take into consideration drainage, shading, and landscaping.

The first tip is, “prevent stormwater runoff.” Stormwater runoff can be prevented by planting filter strips along the edges of a driveway. These large areas of grass or plants trap the stormwater pollutants from reaching the sewer systems.

The second tip is to, “build a retaining wall,” using boulders, soil, or cement blocks. When building a retaining wall homeowners should place the mounds along the edge of the driveway. Plants and other all-season grasses can be planted inside the elevated bed for vertical dimension.

The next tip is to, “create dimension with hardscaping.” With brick, stone, or gravel homeowners can create a harmonious look between the driveway and the home's architecture. Prudential Beazley Real Estate suggests, edging the driveway with marble chips or pebbles to, “soften the transition from concrete to garden.”

The fourth tip is to, “plant a colorful border,” using a mixture of annuals and perennials. By using the two types of flowers, homeowners will be able to keep their driveway in constant bloom. For a vibrant backdrop, Prudential Beazley Real Estate suggests, “pairing together snapdragons and wax begonias.”

The final tip for adding curb appeal to a driveway is to, “line the driveway with greenery.” Plants such as shrubs and cone shaped trees create an impressive facade and are welcoming to guests. They also, “help define the driveway entrance and trap runoff,” says Prudential Beazley Real Estate.

With these inexpensive personal touches, any homeowner can create a sensational driveway that is sure to attract attention.
