Puffingston to Debut One-Day Prezi Training Workshop

The “Introduction to Prezi” course will be offered September 19 at Training Connection’s downtown Chicago facility.

Chicago, IL -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/08/2014 -- Puffingston and Training Connection will be partnering to offer an “Introduction to Prezi” workshop on September 19 for users interested in learning the fundamentals of the fast-growing presentation software.

The course will be taught by Luke Goetting of the presentation design firm Puffingston. Luke is a certified Prezi expert and was recognized for designing the “Best Business Prezi of 2013” in the First Annual Prezi Awards.

“We believe Prezi is an excellent presentation platform for better engaging audiences and we look forward to working with our attendees so they can take their presentations to the next level,” says Goetting.

The course is open to the public, with no previous Prezi experience required. The course will teach users how to setup a Prezi account, create a presentation via the online editor and output their presentations for playback on computers, iPads and websites.

In addition to learning the fundamentals of the platform, users will be instructed on the thought process and visual concepts that make a Prezi really shine for the audience.

“Because PowerPoint is so ingrained in the presentation world, we’ve found that many users initially struggle with a different type of platform like Prezi,” says Goetting. “Our aim is to guide users toward strong competency in the software as well as the ‘Prezi mentality’ when designing on an open canvas instead of a traditional slide-by-slide tool.”

The course is hosted at Training Connection’s computer and business skills training facility in downtown Chicago. Attendees will be able to take advantage of the modern classrooms with both Windows and Mac computers, 20” monitors and breakout rooms with water and Starbucks coffee.

An organization with a strong belief in instructor-led classroom training, Training Connection cites the 2013 Learning Survey that found trainees who chose classroom training over online training “acquired more knowledge, developed better skills, had more enjoyment and were more likely to finish the training.”

Prezi is a cloud-based presentation platform that has been growing increasingly popular as an alternative to traditional presentation tools like Microsoft PowerPoint. Unlike slides, Prezi uses an open, zoomable canvas that allows users to show relationships between the big pictures and fine details, putting ideas in context.

Prezi has grown to over 40 million users since its launch in 2009 and claims to be adding around 55,000 new signups every day. In February 2014, Prezi joined President Obama’s ConnectED initiative by donating $100 million of its Educational Pro licenses to hundreds of thousands of high schools and educators across America.
