Boston, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/17/2014 -- Sales of bottled water continued to be robust in 2013. This was mainly due to increasing demand for safe drinking water in large cities, especially from busy workers away from home. Increasing health awareness among consumers, especially following the review period outburst of cholera epidemics led consumers to be more careful about water consumed away from home. An increasing number of urban families purchased bottled water in a bid to avoid subjecting their children to the dangerous waterborne diseases that pose a danger with existing water supplies. Rising disposable incomes, new launches (particularly of cheaper domestic brands) and promotional activities also helped to sustain strong growth in total volume sales. This success was underpinned by the entry of several small local players to the category.
