Feltham, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/22/2015 -- 2015 could be seen as the year the BB gun transformed from a simple piece of airsoft equipment into an enviable sporting tool! Across the US, the number of people participating in BB-related activities and competitions has grown massively – with even bigger predictions for 2016!
Highlights of the year have included the Annual Daisy BB Gun Competition which took place in the town of Rogers in July. This event truly shows the widening scope of appeal for BB guns, as is competition for youths who are looking to get involved in a constructive sport! Turnout was impressive, with 68 teams representing 18 states. The championship provided a close and adrenaline-fuelled competition, with children participating individually and in teams.
There also has been an increase in adults taking up BB guns for recreational use, especially in the form of skirmishing. This is an activity similar to paintball, but where BB guns are used and teams can compete with each other in classic gamessuch as 'capture the flag'. Keen to comment on the interest in using a BB Gun for sport and recreation was the expert in the field, Just BB Guns. A spokesperson had this to say:
" A BB gun offers so much more opportunity than people may first think. Models are relatively affordable and can be lightweight, so it's a good choice for any person wanting to develop their aim. The Daisy competition is a key example of how airsoft can be celebrated in its own right as part of sport too, so it's no wonder 2015 has seen increased interest. With more suitable venues set to open across the US in 2016 – and a number of skirmishing courses already booked for big seasonal celebrations – it seems the time is ripe to get involved with a BB!
