Key Scales Ford confirms that Ford is now offering a free trial of Operator Assist for SYNC users. Operator Assist connects users with a live operator to receive directions and business locations.
Leesburg, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/15/2011 -- Ford is offering a free trial of live operator assistance for SYNC services, Key Scales Ford confirms. Operator Assist allows customers to choose to connect with a live person to obtain information, specifically directions.
Ford decided to release Operator Assist to meet the higher level of connectivity current users requested. Currently, the main focus for the live operators is to provide directions or help drivers locate a business when requested, which make up about 70 percent of all calls SYNC services receive. The new feature is currently in beta testing, and is being offered to registered SYNC service users. Since Operator Assist will use GPS technology and existing vehicle sensors, no additional hardware or software is required for the system to work.
To activate Operator Assist, a driver must simply state “Operator” at any time during an interaction between SYNC and the user. Ford hopes that the new technology will offer additional assistance when the computer does not understand a request from the user. When the operator assists with directions to an address, the directions will be sent directly to the vehicle, who will then guide the driver. When the system is assisting with a business search, the user has the option between receiving turn-by-turn directions, be directly connected to the business by phone, or receive a text message with the businesses name, address, and phone number.
