Keith Clifford First Wisconsin Attorney Elected to NBLSC Board

Madison, WI -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/06/2011 -- Keith R. Clifford of Clifford and Raihala, S.C. has been elected to the Board of Directors of The National Board of Legal Specialty Certification. He is the first Wisconsin attorney to serve on the NBLSC Board. Clifford, certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, will now lead the NBLSC into a new era.

Currently fewer than 4% of all practicing lawyers are certified by an ABA accredited or state sponsored certification board. The National Board of Trial Advocacy Division of the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification was the first American Bar Association accredited attorney board certifying agency in the nation. Founded in 1977, NBTA offers board certification for lawyers in Civil Trial Law, Criminal Trial Law, and Family Trial Law. NBLSC also offers board certification for lawyers in Social Security Disability Law. To qualify for one of these four certifications lawyers must have extensive experience in their specialty and meet rigorous objective quality standards.

The National Board of Legal Specialty Certification is an outgrowth of the National Board of Trial Advocacy. The NBLSC is a non-profit organization accredited by the American Bar Association to provide board certification for attorneys. It has developed over the years into two divisions, the National Board of Trial Advocacy, which was the first non-profit board in the world dedicated to certifying lawyer competence, and the National Board of Social Security Disability Advocacy.
