Only if the condition has remained stable over a three year period should enhancement be considered.

By decreasing the contrast between the normal skin and the de-pigmented skin permanent makeup or cosmedic enhancement can make the condition appear less noticeable, however care must be taken to ascertain that the condition is in its stable form as the skin stress caused by the procedure itself can cause the condition to spread.

The enhancement is achieved by stippling pigment in to the dermal layer of the skin.
