Players Must Stop Focusing Only on Softball Batting Drills – Softball Coach

Montreal, Quebec -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/18/2011 -- A top softball coach recently said that players miss out on a lot of skills when they focus only on softball batting drills.

“Batting is only one aspect of the game, which deals with offense. Now, how would take care of defending your bases when you’re playing defense?” was the question Coach Mark Mulvany raised for softball players who he thinks aren’t taking a holistic approach towards their training.

Aside from that, Coach Mulvany also said that beginners should focus on the fundamentals first before going into more challenging aspects of the game. “They are called fundamentals for a reason. That’s because they should be the foundation of your game,” adding that players would depend on these fundamentals whatever skill level they reach eventually.

Mulvany however said that he wasn’t discounting the importance of softball hitting drills and learning the proper softball batting techniques. In fact, he said that softball hitting is important because it’s what gives teams points that ultimately win the game. “Just don’t forget that softball isn’t just about racking up points. Great defense helps protect your lead by keeping your opponents from scoring.”

Meanwhile, those who wish to improve their softball hitting skills can visit Coach Mulvany’s website at http://www.softballhittingonline.com. It contains drills and tutorials on how to hit the ball better and more accurately.
