Montreal, Quebec -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/18/2011 -- A top softball coach recently said in a statement that softball players should go online if they want to learn softball skills such as hitting a softball. This is contrary to what many coaches say about training for the game where hitting drills are done on the softball field.
Softball coach Mark Mulvany, however, clarified his statement, saying that what he meant was that there are already plenty of resources available to players today that all one needs is an internet connection to learn more how to become a better softball player.
Mulvany was quoted as saying that, “of course players still need the help of a coach and train on the softball field. But watching softball hitting videos online can supplement whatever a player has already learned from his peers and coaches.”
The coach also said that what’s happening today is a revolution since not only are there are wealth of information around, many of these are also free. He added, however, that to maximize these resources, players should also invest in paid materials such as books, e-books, CDs and DVDs that can be easily ordered online.
Also, the internet has ‘democratized’ every softball player’s access to information, according to Mulvany. “So whether you are in New York or in Beijing, you will get the same helpful information and apply it to your own game. That’s something that wasn’t really possible or at least difficult to pull off in the past,” the coach said.
Mulvany has also jumped into the revolution with his website Softball Hitting Online. As the name suggests, the website provides players and even coaches information on softball hitting techniques, and other essential things related to hitting a softball. Many of the information provided there are free, while others require a free membership.
Coach Mulvany was quick to add that interested individuals could access members-only portions of the site for free for a limited time period to enable them to see the wealth of information that are available to them.
