The sporty and luxurious sedan is a popular model for BMW drivers and is redesigned for 2012 with athletic styles, fuel-efficient engine options, and various optional features for customization.

BMW’s prestigious sedan will remain cleanly and elegantly styled inside and out, with an updated athletic-looking exterior that avoids the negative attention of excess equipment as in previous years. The 2012 BMW 7-Series standard-length models will be 740i, 750i, and ActiveHybrid 7. Long-wheelbase versions will continue as the 2012 740Li, 750Li, ActiveHybrid 7L, and 760Li. For the Li models, BMW applies the extra inches almost entirely to expanding rear-seat legroom.

As in the past, the BMW 7 Series will offer a choice of six-cylinder, V-8, and V-12 engines in addition to a gas/electric hybrid V-8 powertrain. All engines are turbocharged to generate maximum muscle and the six-cylinder engines are configured to an in-line design which creates a mechanical smoothness in the ride.

BMW has stuck to its previously popular standard features like a keyless entry/push button start system, leather upholstery, and dashboard-mounted color LCD screen. However, for the 2012 version, BMW customers have numerous options to create their own luxury haven. One optional feature that is sure to peak interest is the desire to heat and cool both front seats, as well as have the optional of “active” bottom cushions that inflate and deflate to help lower back pain. Another new feature includes a head-up display on the windshield that would project the car’s speed, list navigation directions and other information so the driver can keep their eyes on the road.
