New Miss Malibu Royalty Crowned at the Malibu Golf Club

Judges Included Brandi Glanville, Isaiah Mustafa, Aubrey O’Day and Galen Gering

 

Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2011 -- The beautiful Malibu Golf Club was the site of the 7th Annual Miss Malibu Pageant, which took place on Sunday, September 25, 2011. 45 contestants took part in this year’s competition, where 21 year old, Brie Gabrielle was crowned Miss Malibu USA 2012 and 16 year old Micaela Brookman was crowned Miss Malibu Teen USA 2012. Brie is a senior at Pepperdine University where she is captain of the dance team. Her real passion lies in entertainment, and she plans to become an Oscar-winning actress. Micaela Brookman is a junior at Malibu High School. She loves art and plans to be a curator one day. The other beautiful ladies who finished in the top 5 for Miss Malibu included Brittany McGowan (1st runner-up), Kyle Lardner (2nd runner-up), Kayla Brown (3rd runner-up) and Ebony Andrews (4th runner-up). For Miss Malibu Teen the finalists were Priscilla Casper (1st runner-up), Sami Freeman (2nd runner-up), Ashley Lawrence (3rd runner-up) and Morgan Thornsley (4th runner-up).

E! News entertainment reporter, Kristina Guerrero and realtor and star of Million Dollar Listing, Madison Hildebrand were co-hosts for the live event which boasted an amazing view of the mountains at the magical Malibu Golf Club. Local singer and songwriter and semi-finalist, Hannah Mulholland, and the Malibu Boys & Girls Glee Club performed at the cocktail reception prior to the pageant in the Malibu & Vine Bar and Grille. During the pageant, Varsity Fan Club and LA Dollhouse dancers wowed the audience of over 600 people. Meanwhile, the Low Keys rocked the after-party, serenading the new Miss Malibu.

Brie and Micaela were selected by an esteemed panel of judges that included Brandi Glanville, the newest member of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Aubrey O’Day (Danity Kane, All About Aubrey), Galen Gerring (Days of Our Lives, Dirty Soap), Isaiah Mustafa (Old Spice guy, Charlie’s Angels), Peter Pheng-Young (INTA Gems & Diamonds), Annie Roberts (casting director at E!), Marnie Saitta (casting director, Days of Our Lives), Shelley Farriello (associate publisher, OK Magazine), Laura Tate (editor, Malibu Times), Jefferson Wagner “Zuma Jay”(Malibu City councilmember) and official swimsuit sponsor, Elizabeth Rovsek (Sun Kitten Swimwear).

There were four special awards presented in both the Teen and Miss Categories. Miss Photogenic was determined by the pageant photographer and awarded to Joseline Farrera and Amber Papst; Miss Congeniality was voted on by fellow contestants and awarded to Ebony Andrews and Priscilla Casper, the Outstanding Community Service award recipients were Kayla Brown and Micaela Brookman; and People’s Choice was determined by an online social media campaign and went to Sharon Haywood and Ashley Lawrence.

The winners will make various appearances throughout the community and go on to compete for the title of Miss California USA and Miss California Teen USA in Palm Springs in January.

About the Miss Malibu Organization
The Miss Malibu organization hopes to offer a venue where young women in the local community from 14 to 26 years old can grow personally in poise, confidence, goal setting, public speaking, communication skills, physical fitness and self-discipline. We also strive to open doors and provide career and educational opportunities, not only to the winner but also to all the young women who participate.
