Local 9-Year-Old to Participate in Learn to Golf Clinic Designed for Children with Physical Challenges hosted by TSRHC

 

Dallas, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/11/2011 -- Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children patients, including Jena Hoppert, age 9 of Denison, Texas, will participate in a Learn to Golf clinic taught by golf and allied healthcare professionals specially trained to teach children with physical challenges. Junior golfers will learn about golf safety, etiquette, driving, chipping and putting.

TSRHC’s Learn to Golf program is designed for patients with challenging physical conditions. Learn to Golf provides the tools and instruction needed for patients to participate in and reap the rehabilitative benefits of golf.

The Learn to Golf program is supported by the National Alliance for Accessible Golf. The program also has received support from the United States Golf Association (USGA), PGA TOUR Charities, Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation, Northern Texas PGA and other generous donors. There is no charge for patients to participate.

The event takes place on Saturday, October 8, 2011at Grayson County College Golf Course in Denison, Texas.

Jena Hoppert, age 9 of Denison, Texas, has received treatment for clubfoot http://www.tsrhc.org/clubfoot-foot-disorders.htm at TSRHC since she was 2 weeks old. This will be Jena’s third time to participate in a Learn to Golf clinic. One of Jena’s favorite activities is going to the driving range with her dad, and she has also taken a series of golf lessons since her first Learn to Golf clinic. She is looking forward to learning new golf skills. Jena is a fourth grader at Hyde Park Elementary, and she also enjoys cheerleading, tumbling and tennis.
