Baierl Employees Team Up to Make a Difference in the First Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Event

Pittsburgh, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/13/2011 -- Baierl Chevrolet is going pink! Baierl will join the fight against breast cancer on Saturday, October 29 by participating in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, a 5K non-competitive walk to be held on Pittsburgh's North Shore. Over 200 Baierl employees will be participating, and Baierl is reaching out to the community to join them!

2011 marks the second year that the American Cancer Society will be hosting the event in Pittsburgh. In 1993, the first Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk was held in Boston; the organizers created the event to raise awareness and funds to win the fight against breast cancer.

This year alone, more than 192,000 women and men will be told, "You have breast cancer," including 9,500 Pennsylvanians. While these statistics are staggering, the American Cancer Society offers hope. Companies such as Baierl Automotive, and thousands of cancer survivors and volunteers, are extremely excited to be holding their very first Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event

The overall goal for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Pittsburgh is to rally 4,000 walkers and raise more than $300,000 for the fight against breast cancer this year. Funds raised through Strides support the American Cancer Society's breast cancer research, education, advocacy and patient service programs.

Baierl is working hard to recruit as many walkers as possible for this important event, which takes place during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As an extra incentive, Baierl is offering a $50 gift card to anyone who makes a $50 donation.

For a direct link to the donation site, visit the Baierl website. Baierl Chevrolet on Perry Highway will be accepting donations, and you can pick up a gift card there after you donate. Join the Chevrolet Dealerships Team on their Making Strides website page.

Join Team Baierl in going PINK to support breast cancer awareness during the month of October. Make a difference. Make history. MAKE STRIDES.
