Top Safety Pick Winner, 2012 BMW X3, Is Available to Pittsburgh Consumers at P&W BMW

P&W BMW is proud to carry the IIHS 2012 TOP SAFETY PICK, the 2012 BMW X3, at the local Pittsburgh dealership.

Pittsburgh, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/22/2011 -- P&W BMW is proud to announce that the award-winning 2012 BMW X3 SUV is available to Pittsburgh consumers at the local BMW dealership. The X3 was awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s most prestigious prize, the 2012 TOP SAFETY PICK Award.

The 2012 BMW X3 comes fully-loaded with the most advanced BMW safety technology for the ultimate protection for all passengers. BMW’s Electronic Damping Control allows drivers to seamlessly switch from the normal, sport, or sport+ driving modes with the touch a button.

Vehicle sensors for the electronic damping control adjust each wheel so the suspension is optimized for total control and safety.

Drivers will love the BMW Head-Up Display found on the X3 SUV. The system displays the speed of the vehicle, upcoming navigation, and other warnings on the front windshield in the driver’s field of vision so eyes never have to leave the road. BMW’s camera system also helps to keep passengers safe while driving and parking. A rear-view camera gives drivers full vision of possible objects behind them while backing up and parking in tight spots. The top-view camera helps to give drivers a bird’s-eye view of the X3 and objects around it.

BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system comes standard on the X3 and offers the ultimate safety for drivers to keep their vehicle gripped to the pavement. The xDrive system features a rear wheel bias to allow the X3 to stay tight on the ground even in slick conditions without giving up the rear wheel drive feel. The system is able to analyze which wheels are gripped best to the road and the system will send additional power to those wheels to keep the vehicle stable.

The X3 also comes with Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Brake Control, and Hill Descent Control to help prevent loss of vehicle control and possible collisions. In the event of an unfortunate accident, the X3 is equipped with front passenger and driver airbag supplemental restraint system as well as front-door-mounted side-impact airbags. The X3 also has a crash sensor that safely disconnects the battery, unlocks doors, and turns on the interior and hazard lights to caution other vehicles.
