On the first day of 2012, DRecords will present the music lovers with an incredible team of seekers and achievers but most importantly ‘Yearners’ christened as “Ruh”.

Ruh is arabic for “Soul”, which completely describes the team of five super-talented musicians from across the world. Vinny Kaur from UK, an Indian classical exponent as the lead vocalist is proficient in many styles of gaiki– classical, ghazal, folk, sufi, fusion & has merited mentions in news media both in India and abroad.Her dual flow of musical energy has an electrifying impact which lingers in the memory long after the event. She is accompanied by Mahender Kabir ji,the saxophonist who brings with him a musical experience of more than 40 years with a range of genres like Jazz, Indian Classical and Folk Music, Satish on the guitar has toured the world and has performed with a number of music connoisseurs, Willson gives ‘Ruh’ its melody –the lead pianist, keyboardist has to his credit many international concerts, Maurya adds the rhythm to ‘Ruh’ –an ace percussionist has command over a wide variety of percussion instruments such as drums, dholak, djembe, duff, gab-gubi, murchang& he brings to his performances the traditional flavors and intricacies of Indian rhythm, interwoven with unique command and sparkle of contemporary world percussions.

Daler Mehndi welcomes the New Year by donning a new role of being a Mentor to such talented musicians who wish to showcase their art by way of giving them opportunity through his maiden record label DRecords that has to its credit a wide range of Artists from Mika Singh to Hussain Bukhsh ji, Sher Ali Mehr Ali from across the borders in Pakistan, legendary musicians such as Ustad Bhure Khan &Ramjaan Bachhoo, stand up comedian Raju Srivastav to Jinda Jitti folk singers from Punjab.

The Event is conceived, conceptualized, designed and executed by Glowing Life Initiative, the company that has aptly and credibly styled pop icons such as Daler Mehndi over the last 14 years. Headed by Taranpreet Kaur, an Architect, classically trained singer, sound designer, event and artist manager, the company aides as a mediator between talent and such platforms.

Essentially a classically trained set of musicians ‘Ruh’ the evening will primarily showcase music from the masters of yesteryears, songs that have made you sway in the past with a dash of contemporary music designed through a fresh vision. RUH is an attempt to create a youthful representation of songs and offers a happy balance between conventional and nonconventional.
