Lamborghini Aventador Has Had a Year to Remember

Any retrospective of the year 2011 for Lamborghini fans certainly has to be one of the best ever. The launch year of the Lamborghini Aventador is certainly one to remember.

Northolt, Middlesex -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/12/2012 -- The debut for the Lamborghini Aventador came at the Geneva Motor Show in March. A sparkling gem amongst some of the world’s most precious cars, it seemed a tall order for the Aventador to shine above the rest. However, even when displayed amongst the cream of motoring’s newest statements, all Top Gear could muster was a breathless comment of ‘you want one’.

By April, the head of Lamborghini reported that the entire first production run of this supercar was sold out, only one week after the highly successful launch.

Just weeks later, the growing fan base of this delicious new release were treated to the news that they would be able to get an eyeful of the modern beauty in the upcoming Batman film, ‘the Dark Knight Rises’.

June saw the Aventador being treated to a test drive from the team at Top Gear. Whilst these boys often take the cars they test ‘for a ride’, their approach and resulting appreciation for this Lamborghini were far from run of the mill. Absolutely smitten from their first kiss, the presenters waxed lyrical about the engineering, power, shapeliness and, of course, sound of the latest work of art from Sant’ Agata Bolognese.

In July, viewers were treated to the real deal. On British screens, live and unplugged, the Lamborghini Aventador hire benchmark was put through its paces on the Top Gear track and admirably surpassed all expectations. Even the programme’s producer commented that ‘life doesn’t get better than this’.

Some of the best news that could be brought to our ears followed. This was the news that the Lamborghini would soon be available to rent for car hire UK at Signature Car Hire.

The car continued to gather acclaim. In August, it was reported that the Aventador won the Five Diamond Engineering Award at the Concorso Italiano, the year’s presentation of cars from Italy. Given such illustrious competition, it was thrilling to hear that the innovation in this car surpassed all others.

October continued to prove that the Aventador was flying high in 2011. Two were spotted being uncradled and offloaded from a jet aeroplane. By all accounts, they were destined to be jewels in the crown of the car collection of Qatar's Al-Thani Royal Family.

In November, the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 was pitted against a turbocharged fellow Italian in the form of a boosted Ferrari 458 from Underground Racing. Despite being equal in horsepower, the newcomer proved unbeatable.

December saw the Aventador continue to conquer the globe, with a dazzling launch to the world’s most rapidly contested motor market, the Far East. Racing though the Olympic Stadium in Japan, over six hundred oriental dignitaries were treated to a spectacle of fire power.

Eclipsing even former superstars of this stable, such as the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, the Aventador has already established itself as worthy of imitations. From souvenir mobile phones to scale models of the car, it seems that followers cannot get enough.

With only weeks to go to this year’s Geneva Motor Show, we have learnt that 2012 will be even better. The Roadster evolution will be previewed at the exhibition for release in 2013.
