UK Models Review Advisories in Wake of Social Networking

UK Models revise and revamp their advisories in response to the rise of the Social Networking phenomenon and how both the legitimate and unscrupulous sides of the modelling industry find new talent.

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/14/2012 -- UK Models, amongst others, are assessing the way they warn prospective models about current scams in response to the massive growth of Social Networking

An unnamed spokeswoman from UK Models Communications Department explains, ' In previous years our focus was centred around newspaper and magazine advertisements which contained invites to photo shoots and casting sessions and contained eye catching headlines such 'Want to be a model' or similar in large letters. These days it's not quite as straightforward as the sham agencies often target their prospective victims via the Internet.'

Many of the players in the legitimate fashion industry are becoming concerned about the way fraudulent operators are utlising the latest technology in order to snare people. The main reason for this concern is the perception of the public who may tend to associate all modeling agencies with scams and therefore cast a dark shadow over the industry as a whole. The UK Models review of current practices intended to keep people informed will need to take the cyber threat into account if it wants to disseminate the information where it is most needed.

The spokeswoman goes onto say, 'Scams perpetrated via the Internet will form of major part of our fight against the people who are dragging the whole industry down because of their nefarious activities. We will use all means available to us to get the message across, whether its means creating an increased presence across the social networking sites or working with Search Specialists in order to enhance the advisories presence on the web.'

The Internet for all its benefits can be used by anyone for virtually anything, including all forms of dishonest enterprise. Anyone that has been approached by a modelling agency or a representative that claims to represent a modeling agency should perform extensive research in order to check their credentials. Parents or Guardians can also play a big part in alleviating this menace by supervising minors Internet activity.
