UK Models & Purepace reiterate their advisories in regard to modelling scams and the signs to look out for when approaching a modeling agency.
London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/21/2012 -- Despite all the guidance available online prospective models and young hopefuls are still being scammed by unscrupulous agencies and their representatives.
A spokeswoman for UK Models explains, 'Although we spend a great deal of time and resources highlighting the latest scams that blight the modelling industry our latest data still shows a near identical amount of people falling for the same old tricks, namely being relieved of their money under false pretenses.'
For industry outsiders the various modelling scams being perpetrated against mostly young people probably do not present much cause for thought, until it happens to their son, daughter or family and they are lift to pick up the pieces.
Our spokeswoman goes onto say, 'Although we do find it quite depressing that people do not heed the advice and warnings issued by UK Models Purespace or don't even look for them, we are determined to push home our message and make a difference. If only one or two people avoid heartbreak and financial loss as a result of our advice we are happy but our ultimate goal is to reach out to everyone and make these con-artists a thing of the past.'
The biggest problem the legitimate industry faces in its fight against the con men is trying to keep one step ahead of them. The rise of the Internet and in particular the social networking sites present the unscrupulous a growing number of avenues in which to target their victims.
Our spokeswoman concludes by saying. 'Of course we are aware of the windows of opportunity the internet presents to the scam agencies and agents but we simply do not have the capacity to cover every possible medium, we do need people to start helping themselves. We just hope the publicity that we are generating both through our websites and Press Releases will gain more exposure than the false advertisements published by the unscrupulous operators out there.'
Readers are kindly asked to report and make public any scams/suspicious activity regarding modeling scams both in the UK and abroad.
