Howard R. Miller Named to City of Miami Arts and Entertainment Council Foundation Board of Directors

 

Miami, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/21/2012 -- Howard R. Miller, President of Howard R. Miller Communications (HRMC) and Chairman of the Synergy Entertainment Group, has been appointed to the foundation Board of Directors of the City of Miami Arts and Entertainment Council.

The purpose of the new 501(C) (3) nonprofit is to raise money to support major arts and entertainment special events in the City of Miami. Moreover, it will be in charge of the Miami Arts and Entertainment Council’s fundraising efforts.

According to Miller, “It is an honor to be involved in helping continue to build the City of Miami as a world class Arts and Entertainment center.”

The Miami Art and Entertainment Council serves in an advisory capacity and makes recommendations to the city regarding endorsements and support of specific Miami art and entertainment special events, performances and productions. If also helps determine whether the city should accept or acquire any specific art, seek public participation in all cultural events in the city of Miami. Lastly, the Council serves as the city’s official liaison with major arts and entertainment facilities and organizations to attract arts and entertainment programs to the City of Miami.

The Council received a recent $50,000 donation from Pernod Ricard’s Absolut Vodka to be used toward arts and culture.

Miller is President of Howard R. Miller Communications, an award winning full service marketing, advertising and public relations company in its 19th year of service. HRMC represents local, national and international for profit and nonprofit organizations (www.gohrmc.com). As Chairman of the Synergy Entertainment Group, Miller’s early creative writing talents were displayed in various television and video productions, luring him into the entertainment field more than twenty years ago. Now as an accomplished writer and television producer, his ABC special, Dying For Love (a documentary focusing on the teenage AIDS crisis) was nominated for two Emmy® Awards and an Iris Award, as well as earned Miller a national Telly Award. Miller also produced a children’s television pilot for United/Paramount Network entitled, Video Vision.

Miller is an avid community advocate, serving as a member of the Board of Directors of Florida International University, Jewish Museum of Florida, Miami Light Project, and as Chairman Emeritus of the nationally renowned Design and Architecture Senior High School (DASH). He has chaired numerous fundraising projects, including National Philanthropy Day, and is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
