Scott Tucker Is Lending His Support to New Rivals on the Grid

Madison, WI -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/09/2012 -- Scott Tucker has been busy lending his support to this year's increased competition in the American Le Mans Series P2 class. This year the number of cars lining up on the starting grid in the P2 class has increased dramatically and Scott Tucker has embraced the new competition with open arms as by lending his full support to his new rivals as he kicks off the defense of his 2011 ALMS P2 championship. Two new racing teams, Conquest Endurance and Black Swan Racing, made their debuts in the ALMS P2 class in March at the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida and rather than being worried about the increased competition that his new rivals will pose Scott Tucker has welcomed the expansion of the P2 class.

Scott Tucker got the defense of his 2011 ALMS P2 class title off to the perfect start by winning at Sebring but the victory was tougher due to the increased competition in the P2 class. Before the start of the 2011 season the number of entries running in the P2 class was expected to grow, unfortunately that never happened, but in 2012 it has happened and that's something that has pleased Scott Tucker. According to Scott Tucker, he was disappointed about last year, but he made it clear it wasn't the fault of the ALMS series. Tucker went on to add that there were guys telling the series that they were coming and didn't. Scott Tucker has always been fully committed to the ALMS P2 series in 2011 and his Level 5 Motorsports team even went as far as lending a helping hand to the P2 class by running two cars in order to show just how committed they were.

The new teams who will be hoping to stop Scott Tucker's domination of the P2 class are Eric Bachelart's Conquest Endurance, based in Indianapolis, IN. Driving a Morgan-Judd for Conquest will be former Indycar driver Martin Plowman and David Heinemeier-Hansson. The Tim Pappas owned team, Black Swan Racing, are based in Boston, MA. and have a HPD Lola driven by owner driver Pappas, Bret Curtis, and two time Grand-Am champion Jon Fogarty. Actor turned driver Patrick Dempsey recently announced he would be lending his support to the ALMS P2 class this season too. His Dempsey Racing team are making a partial entry into 2012's ALMS P2 class in preparation for an eventual full entry into the p2 class. It now looks like Scott Tucker's defense of his ALMS P2 title has just got a whole lot more difficult even though he's welcoming the increased competition.
