ISC Studio obtained its first gallery as it tries to expand and attract more artists on the city.
Lenexa, KS -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/12/2012 -- ISC Studio, an art co-op housed in a former carpet factory, moved from Brooklyn to a YoHo Artist Studio in Yonkers. ISC Studio obtained its first gallery as it tries to expand and attract more artists on the city.
Scott Tucker and Tracey Brooke decided to move their company to a 4,000 square foot space at YoHo Artist Studio in Yonkers. The main goal of the moving is to expand and attract more artists who wanted to show their talents. The YoHo Artist Studio performed a ribbon cutting for ISC Studio last March. According to George Huang of the Heights Real Estate Co. and the owner of the building, ISC will handle the first permanent on-site gallery in Yoho. It is said that more than 50 studio tenants can display their work regularly.
Tucker and Brooke move their company to encourage more artists to show their talents by presenting some of their work of arts. It is a good way to promote and to build awareness about arts and designing.
Basically, Huang is looking forward to the on-site gallery on his building. He actually pointed to the historic arrival of artists. He also said that he wanted to have galleries in post-industrial New York City neighborhoods like Chelsea. According to the statement of Huang, they feel that this is one of the milestones in the evolution of YoHo. He said that it is like a natural progression and evolution of an arts district. This new opportunity is opened to the district making it possible for them to build a new arts district.
The Heights purchased the former Alexander Smith Carpet mill way back in 2005 and they invested almost $1 million on the construction of the said building. According to Huang, it contains 50 lofts and they are now expecting another expansion to increase another 25 later this spring.
The new 4,000 square foot headquarters of ISC at YoHo includes a display area for Tucker and his partner Tracey Brooke’s artwork, offices and a production workshop for the “Raunjiba” furniture line of Scott Tucker. The couple will be the ones to manage, handle and promote various events at the new gallery which includes quarterly art exhibits as well as educational programs.
The couple spent eight years in a carriage house located in the Carroll Gardens Section of Brooklyn. According to Tucker, he and Brooke decided to transfer to Yonkers because they were attracted to the place which enables them to triple the size of the production space.
Based on the statement of Tucker, they liked the idea of growing arts culture in Westchester and Yonkers as a whole. He said that he really missed Brooklyn but this new place gives them the opportunity to work from the ground floor in a place considered as a non saturated market. On April 21 and 22 this year, YoHo will host its much awaited ninth annual “Open Studios” exhibition. It will allow the public to take a tour on the different workspaces of about 30 artists.
