McKinney, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/08/2012 -- On April 23, Honda Manufacturing began production on the new 2013 Acura ILX at a Honda plant in Greensburg, Indiana. Honda Associates and community partners were there to celebrate the first ILX rolling off the assembly line Monday morning as they were all gathered to mark its launch. The new Acura sedan will be exclusively produced at the Indiana plant.

The president of Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, Jun Nishimoto, had this to say about the exciting event, "Acura has a sparkling reputation and we are thrilled to build the gateway vehicle to this brand at our Greensburg facility. As the exclusive builder of the ILX, HMIN has a big responsibility. The new Acura ILX will come with both gasoline and gas-electric hybrid options. Reports are that Honda will produce three versions of the ILX; a 150-horsepower model, a 201-horsepower model with 6-speed manual transmission, and the ILX Hybrid with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine.

The Acura ILX hybrid version will be a groundbreaking vehicle for Honda as it will be Honda’s first hybrid car to be made in the United States, as well as Acura’s first ever hybrid model.
