Ocean, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/11/2012 -- The add-on convertible top module for Mercedes-Benz SLK R172 offered by aftermarket electronics specialist Mods4cars now ships with a custom designed plug-and-play wiring adapter. This new adapter allows for a very simple and straightforward installation of the kit by simply plugging it in between a couple of connectors. All connectors used are original OEM quality parts, thus a perfect and secure fit is guaranteed. "Older installation methods where connectors needed to be disassembled and individual wires had to be dealt with are a thing of the past", says PR manager Sven Tornow. No wires need to be spliced, cut or severed. Everything stays in pristine condition and the kit can be removed from the car without leaving any traces.

The SmartTOP convertible (http://www.mods4cars.com) top module gives Mercedes-Benz SLK owners the distinct advantage of being able to put the top up or down with one-touch convenience and while driving at speeds of up to 60km/h (~38mph). Additionally the factory remote fob can be used to control the top from a distance, up to the full RF range of the remote. No changes are necessary to the remote fob. No more holding down the switch: The car will be used top-down more often.

Configuration of user programmable settings is easier than ever, thanks to the full integration of this module with the car’s electronics. Settings are shown in clear text on the cluster display. This SmartTOP module also offers the following bonus features: Windows can be controlled separately from the remote and all windows can be closed with a quick touch of the console button. On cars with Keyless Go factory option the top can be controlled via touch sequences on the driver’s side door handle. Starting the engine or turning the ignition off while the top is moving will not interrupt the operation. There is a master switch to quickly disable the module completely, while retaining the individual preferences.

All modules come with a standard USB port for quick and easy firmware updates or module configuration via PC. Support software and firmware update files are available free of charge online. A SmartTOP module is a future-proof investment.

The convenience of this kind of add-on module is not only to be enjoyed by Mercedes-Benz SLK R172 owners as similar modules are also available for the previous generation SLK models R170 and R171.
