Dubai, UAE -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/09/2009 -- Eton Institute, a leading Dubai-based language institute announced that they will be introducing sign language courses as part of their CSR initiative to break communication barriers between all members of society. This visual course will be based on the widely used American Sign Language (ASL) standard and a part of the proceeds will be donated to charity.

Hearing impairment or deafness is a full or partial decrease in the ability to detect sounds. It is one of the most common birth defects which affect nearly 3 out of every 1000 children. Sign Language is a visual form of communication which helps overcome this challenge. Users of sign language can express themselves entirely through gestures and signals as opposed to sound.

Eton Institute’s ‘Introduction to Signing’ course will teach students the basic words, phrases, and expressions of American Sign Language (ASL) using a simple, step-by-step approach. Students will learn everything they need to begin using sign language in practical, everyday situations from talking about family, to planning a party, to shopping at the mall.

The Sign Language course will aim to raise awareness and promote integration of the deaf and hearing impaired community into society. The institute will also be donating a part of the proceeds from this initiative to the cause in line with their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies.
