One Suicide Diverted by Progressive Christian Book Spirit Thinking

Fan of Reece Manley’s Spirit Thinking Writes the Thoughts of Thousands

Dallas, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/24/2009 -- The email arrived last week to info@advocateuse.net last week with the news of a Holiday miracle. Here, with the permission of the writer, word for word:

“Dear Dr. Manley,
You don’t know me. I’ve started to call you a hundred times or more, but then it just never seemed like I could do it. My name is Michelle. I have two girls, Nancy and Kayla, ages 7 and 9. I am single. My house is about to be foreclosed on. I cry every day because Christmas is coming and I don’t have any money for presents, lights or even a really nice dinner. I don’t know how I’ll pay the gas bill. I have failed so many people so many times.

Tonight, I was ready to give up. I’d arranged the overdose. The girls will be better off with my sister, anyway. I couldn’t stop crying. I just hurt so bad. Then it happened.

I’d ordered your book a month ago and hadn’t read it. But, it was laying on my dresser and I picked it up and read Spirit Thinking for the first time. Then I picked up the Bible. I read through all of the books Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Something clicked. The Spirit is the Holy Spirit, right? I don’t know what moved me but I began to write out all the thoughts in my mind. Then I did what the book said to do and I challenged them through the power of the Spirit.

I know you probably hear this all the time, but your work stopped something awful from happening tonight and started something healing. I just got off the phone with my sister and I’m crying but I’m crying happy tears. It’s more than I ever can explain. I just wanted to say thank you. That’s not much for what you’ve done but it moved me. Thank you. If I can ever tell someone how your book helped tonight, let me know. They can call me if they want. Thank you.”

In response to the letter, progressive Christian author and professional pastoral counselor Reece Manley responded to Michelle’s letter and arranged to have counseling provided to her by a Certified Spirit Thinking Facilitator (CSTF) qualified therapist. “This is why I do the work I do, “says Reece. “For every one out there that reaches for help, there are a thousand others just hurting so badly.”
