The Cheap Chica Nominated for Top Blogging Award: Needs Your Vote to Win

Weblog Recognizes Fashion Queen's Blog about Inexpensive Sartorial Splendor

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/27/2010 -- Spending less is the consumer's new shopping strategy. But when it comes to fashion, many say saving money usually means sacrificing style. Lilliana Vazquez, founder of “The Cheap Chica's Guide to Style,” says it's a myth.

Vazquez hates the word cheap. A successful accessories designer and fashion expert, Vazquez knows her way around high fashion. But that doesn't mean paying the high price for it.

“Just because I refuse to spend $200 on a pair of designer jeans, shell out a fortune for this season's “it” bag, or throw down $50 for a designer tee does not qualify someone as cheap,” Vazquez says. “I find other ways of getting it without spending my entire paycheck.”

In 2008, Vazquez launched the blog “The Cheap Chica's Guide to Style” and offered up her insider tips to help women look fabulous, even on a budget. You could almost hear a sigh of relief from women

Vazquez shares her secrets for finding great bargains and flattering fashions for every figure type and for translating runway styles into everyday life. The site even offers many retail coupons exclusively for Cheap Chica's readers.

Cheap Chica's began as a simple Wordpress blog and has grown to a comprehensive budget fashion Web site. In its first month, Cheap Chicas had 300 viewers, and she estimates 60,000 viewers will log on this month.

Cheap Chica's has caught the attention of the Weblog Awards, who have been celebrating the best and brightest blogs for 10 years. On Jan. 21, they announced the 2010 finalists. And Cheap Chica's made the list for “Best Fashion Blog.” Many regard the Weblogs to be the Academy Awards of bloggers.

“Shock and honored best describe how I felt when I saw the finalists. To be listed next to such amazing and well respected blogs is an unbelievable feeling,” says Vazquez. "I kept refreshing the page because I thought it was a mistake at first."

Cheap Chica's has some tough competition, including Cupcakes and Cashmere, The Satorialist, The Cut and LibertyLondonGirl. But Cheap Chica's is the only blog dedicated to frugal fashions.

“I'm completely grateful to my loyal and fabulous readers who are the only reason I'm up there at all,” Vazquez says.
