Dubai, UAE-- (SBWIRE) -- 02/17/2010 -- Eton Institute, U.A.E’s leading training & development centre based in Dubai, announced that they would be hosting a one-day teacher training workshop that will discuss invaluable assessment and grading strategies that will allow teachers to gauge a student’s progress more effectively. The workshop titled ‘Introduction to Practical Assessment and Grading’ will be conducted on 24 February from 01:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Eton Institute in Dubai Knowledge Village.

Eli Ghazel, Head of Teacher Training and School Development Consultancy at Eton Institute is the region’s leading teacher trainer, having over twenty years experience in planning and delivering workshops and training programs around the world. He commented: “The teaching world is constantly changing, regenerating and moving forward. Our policies, approaches and assessment techniques must evolve at the same pace.”

“Being able to accurately assess and report a child’s progress is essential to both teachers and parents. More and more educators are realizing the inadequacy of traditional methods which compare diverse students with different talents by emphasizing their weaknesses as opposed to their strengths. To get the true picture of a student’s progress, teachers must concentrate on growth over time, using a student’s own performance as a yard stick for progress.” He added.

The ‘Introduction to Practical Assessment and Grading’ workshop will discuss essential topics such as nonverbal assessment strategies, charts, oral and written products and portfolios through interactive learning using incident process, jigsaw, buzz groups and collaborative learning. Participants will also be able to gauge their own progress at the end of the workshop through self-evaluation activities which involve designing a creative learning task and assessment in their own subject of teaching.

The ‘Introduction to Practical Assessment and Grading’ workshop priced at AED 890 per delegate will be open to all educators from the region wishing to upgrade themselves. Additionally, one representative nominated from each school will be offered the opportunity to attend the invaluable training workshop for free. The complimentary place allocated for one member of each school may be booked after a free one-to-one consultation with the educational adviser, Eli Ghazel, which will allow schools to identify their teaching development needs. To register for the workshop or to reserve a free place for your school email teaching@eton.ac or call 800-Eton (8003866) to speak with an adviser and schedule your free consultation session. Consultation slots and workshop places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis.
