San Antonio, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/08/2010 -- ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT SYSTEM:

The International Pageant System was established in 1985 and has built an incredibly professional and respectful reputation as a top of the line pageant. It encourages excellence in young women by rewarding community service efforts, building lasting relationships, and promoting healthy non-exploitive body images. The pageant also challenges women to excel in their lives and in their communities by giving them exposure to a large audience whom they can in turn inspire to excel. This pageant is meant to be encouraging and empowering. The goal is to find today’s role models for tomorrow’s leaders so that they can build up and make successful the generations to follow. These women want to change the world, and this is their opportunity.

ABOUT RACHAEL LYNÉE BURNS:
Rachael Lynée is a 26-year-old Texas native who believes this pageant actually found her. She said she was “so surprised to get an email from Mrs. Koether one day asking [her] to apply to be part of the pageant as Miss Fort Worth.” She was thrilled, because it would possibly allow her to spread the word about her favorite charity, the Falling Whistles. Rachael is a professional dancer, model, and actress, has a dance degree from the University of North Texas, and plans to begin a Bachelor of Science nursing program this fall. She is currently working on her prerequisite courses at Tarrant County College and was recently accepted to Texas Woman’s University. Oddly enough, after waiting tables for 7.5 years, she finally realized what it was about waitressing that she loved so much: serving others. Serving combined with an interest in medicine lead her to look into and pursue nursing.

This love for serving others, along with her childhood experiences, gave Rachael her platform idea, which is “childhood abuse prevention and recovery.” She has always been involved with helping others around her and wants to encourage others to do the same in their own lives. The charity Rachael has teamed up with is called "Darkness to Light," which is an organization dedicated to confronting child sexual abuse. Abuse victims hold a special place in her heart, and her goals with this platform are to be a resource for those who are recovering and to help prevent children from being abused. She speaks publicly about her experiences and how others can recognize and prevent child abuse.
