BBC Announces 40% Rise in Student for Foundation Degrees

Coventry, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/10/2010 -- Student enrolments onto Foundation degrees have risen by 40% in the last two years according to a recent BBC article. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8521911.stm)

Research shows that over half of all foundation degrees are studied at Higher Education Colleges, with the remainder being offered by universities.

In the article, others have expressed concerns over whether these courses may be taken back from colleges by universities in the future, therefore reducing the number of places available even further.

RDI offer HNC and HND programmes which equate to the first 2 years of a degree. They are studied by distance learning which allows students to earn while they learn and develop valuable work experience. Many students can demonstrate what they learn within their work, increasing the value of their course.

Dr Philip Hallam, CEO of RDI comments:

"At RDI, we have seen a sharp rise in applications as students look at online learning as a real alternative to gaining a university education."
