Teachers from U.A.E’s Leading Schools to Attend Eton Institute's ‘Teaching & Learning' Workshop

Eton Institute to host teacher training workshop 'Teaching and Learning' on Wednesday, 21 April, from 01:30 PM to 05:00 PM at Dubai Knowledge Village. This workshop will examine the learning process and will outline strategies to design lesson plans and activities which promote active learning and participation among students.

Dubai, UAE -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/20/2010 -- Teachers and representatives of leading schools in the UAE are to participate in the ‘Teaching and Learning’ workshop at Dubai Knowledge Village organized by Eton Institute. The workshop will examine the learning process and will outline how teachers may draw up an executable plan for providing students with effective learning experiences.

Eli Ghazel, Education Consultant at Eton Institute and facilitator of the workshop commented: “Research has indicated that enquiry and experiential learning prepares students better than instruction and duplication. With passive education, learning stops in the classroom. Active participation on the other hand empowers students not only within but also beyond the classroom. This is why an expert ‘guide by the side’ of the students rather than a ‘sage on the stage’ can help learners become more independent and self-sufficient and subsequently better equipped for a future where a guide will no longer be available.”

“This workshop” he added “will examine the complexities of the teaching-learning process which are essentially two sides of the same coin. An educator’s understanding of what it means to be a good teacher depends on his or her beliefs and values about learning and what it constitute to be a ‘good’ learner. The workshop will also equip teachers to build on this knowledge in order to develop a feasible plan and design activities that actively engage students in their own self-development and learning.”

The ‘Teaching and Learning’ workshop will provide hands-on training for teachers to design and manage learning experiences for their students. The interactive workshop will use instructional methods such as incident process, jigsaw and buzz groups. Participants will be able to assess their own progress at the end of the workshop through designing a creative learning or assessment task in their own subject using one of the materials provided.

The workshop will be conducted on Wednesday, 21 April from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. It will be priced at AED 890 per delegate and will be offered completely for free to one nominated representative from select schools. To register for the workshop or to schedule a free one-to-one consultation call 800-Eton (8003866) or email contact@eton.ac.
