Von Moltke Finishes Top-10 Again At Bosch Engineering 250

He Is In Second Place For Rookie Of The Year

Altamonte Springs, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/30/2010 -- P1 Groupe driver Dion von Moltke finished 8th this past weekend with team mate Memo Gidley at the Bosch Engineering 250 held in Alton, Virginia at the Virginia International Raceway.

For von Moltke this was picking up where had left off at Porsche 250 at Barber Motorsports Park. Driving the #77 McDonalds/South African Airways/PR Newswire Ford Dallara, he qualified in the 7th position in the very competitive Daytona Prototype class. This strong qualifying position followed Dion once again leading the Trueman/Akin practice session by more than one and a half a seconds over the rest of the field now having done so for the fourth straight race. Throughout the race, von Moltke selected his spots carefully to ensure that co-driver Gidley would have a solid car to finish.

With his eighth place finish this weekend, von Moltke closed in even closer to the lead for Rookie of the Year points, and is currently in second place. This event marked the duo’s third straight Top-10 finish with the Doran Racing team current sitting in 6th place in the championship, just a mere three points out of the Top-3. The pressure is on the driving tandem to keep the strong results coming in.

“We had a great finish this weekend and 2010 continues to be a great season,” said Dion von Moltke. “I owe everything this season to my sponsors who have stood with me throughout this exciting season, my co-driver, Memo, my team and the fans. I can sense that the momentum is building this season and I look forward taking on Lime Rock Park in the Doran Rolex Daytona Prototype, what a team these Doran guys are! They are real pros.”

Throughout this season, von Moltke will be driving the #77 McDonalds/South African Airways/PR Newswire Ford Dallara. For GRAND-AM fans, the Lime Rock race on Memorial Day weekend will be one that has long been anticipated. There will be a nearly a month interval between the just completed Bosch Engineering 350 and the Lime Rock race. For von Moltke, the challenge is to show fans in the Northeast the same level of professionalism and expertise that has earned him one of the strongest followings amongst GRAND-AM fans. An added incentive for this race will also be for von Moltke to earn enough Rookie of the Year points to move into the lead for that coveted year end award. Following Lime Rock, von Moltke’s next race will be the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen, New York on June 5, 2010.
