Time Warner Cable's Fastest Internet To Date Now Available

Albany, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/20/2010 -- This next-generation Wideband Internet service, already available in parts of Buffalo and Syracuse, offers residential customers speeds up to 50 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream for $99.95/month, while the company’s new “Road Runner Xtreme” service delivers 30 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream for $69.95/month.

Time Warner Cable Wideband Internet speeds are made possible by taking advantage of the company's ongoing investment in its robust fiber-optic network combined with the cable industry’s state-of-the-art DOCSIS 3.0 technology. Wideband Internet offers customers wireless home-networking capability, allowing them to connect up to five devices simultaneously from anywhere in their home. Time Warner Cable’s own local staff completes the simple and fast at-home installation, which includes a new cable modem capable of these faster speeds.

• ITHACA – 6/18
• INDIAN RIVER – 6/30
• WATERTOWN – mid July

Time Warner Cable already offers customers a complete bundled package of advanced services including Digital Cable, Digital Phone and Road Runner, offering existing broadband customers its “PowerBoost” feature for extra download speeds and its previous maximum 15 Mbps “Turbo” level of service. Additionally, all broadband customers can download the free CA Internet Security Suite, which comes with Parental Control capabilities.

A 6 Mb song that takes a current standard Road Runner customer between 5 and 10 seconds to download takes just one second with 50 Mbps Wideband Internet. A standard-definition movie that takes more than 15 minutes to download at existing speeds can be downloaded in less than 3 minutes with Wideband Internet. And gamers especially appreciate the faster 5 Mbps maximum upload speed, which gives them an advantage when enjoying online and competitive gaming activity.

Wideband Internet is also available to Time Warner Cable’s Business Class commercial customers.
